Fair-weather sailor, novice long-boarder, hiker and sustainability enthusiast, Josh has been on the water and around the water all his life. From sailing around the Bay of Islands through his childhood to tramping around rivers and streams as an adult. Josh also brings 25 years of leadership and commercial experience to help the SC team scale up the regeneration of the waterways and coastlines we all love.

Expert strategist, skilled communicator and passionate presenter. Camden combines a deep love for the outdoors with a passion for designing systemic tools for large-scale change. The education, events and community engagement programmes he has created have brought litter prevention and water restoration messaging to millions.

Operations Director

Motivator, ideas man, surfer, diver and trained in marine ecology, Fletcher recently returned from four years in Southeast Asia working on and establishing a series of marine conservation programmes. He joins our team as a people-orientated driver of our Auckland programmes.

Events extraordinaire and camp mum. Our annual ‘Let’s Get Cleaned Up’ fundraising ball wouldn’t be the same without her flamboyant style and ability to open wallets for the cause. Around the office, she keeps things running and keeps spirits high with her childish charm and motherly nurturing.

Development Lead and Project Manager

Cognitive scientist, enterprise architect, and manager of projects. Lives in Gisborne. Likes: surfing, climbing, flying fantabulous machines and playing saxophones. Dislikes: plastic in the ocean, dessert.

An ocean lover with a background in diving, communication and business, Ben is passionate about enabling local communities to be involved in the protection and management of our wonderful and unique coastal, marine and freshwater environments.

A smile creator and avid adventurer, Dan lives his life big. He is a boisterous soul who enjoys trail running, bringing people together and DIY. His environmental studies background, humorous nature and hunger to get his hands dirty make him a weapon in the field.


Shelley Butt
Programmes Coordinator

Passionate educator, tramper and adventurer, Shelley often spends her free time on the beach, picking up rubbish and running around with her dog. She helps facilitate clean-ups with schools, businesses and organisations to collectively work towards cleaner beaches and waterways.

An enthusiastic connector, Shawn Elise developed a passion for waste reduction working in events & realising the opportunity for people to come together to find solutions to limit human impact on the environment. She loves yoga, disc golf, tramping, gardening & funky house dance parties.

Programme Coordinator

A people person, ocean lover, and budding artist! During her globe-spanning volunteer work, Natalia saw the human impact on our environment and made it her mission to make a change. Natalia ensures that our International Volunteer Programme runs smoothly and is a Coastguard radio operator in her spare time.

Helen’s go-to places to recharge are the ocean and the bush. She’s keen to put her skills in writing and creative problem solving and her background in environmental ethics to good use in helping to protect the environment. Helen loves swimming, tramping, reading, music, and hanging out with her cat.

With a background in environmental science, George is passionate about sustainable land-use practices. He enjoys teaching and wants to inspire the next generation to protect the environment. When he’s not out in the field you’ll find him surfing, rock climbing, snowboarding or running.

She’s passionate about protecting the environment and in her free time enjoys running, cooking, reading, and camping and stargazing out in the wops.

Raised out at the wild beaches of West Auckland, Paice grew up with sand between his toes. A deep thinker and avid presenter, Paice is always asking questions about how our natural world works and he loves sparking that same curiosity in others.

Amanda loves camping, tramping and being in the ocean. She believes that environmental change starts from grassroots action. Amanda makes it her mission to advocate and take action to instil environmentally positive habits within her communities. As a high-school student, she has first hand experience with schools and insights into the environmental aspirations of youth.

Karina doesn’t mind a little time in the mountains to say the least. She feels good when she gets to go for a walk in the bush with friends, family, or just her dogs to feel closer to what feels meaningful. She tries to live with nature in mind, and is learning everyday little ways what that really means.

Melanie grew up in sunny Pāpāmoa with the sand under her feet. As a marine science student with a passion for seabirds, sustainability, environmental advocacy and adventure, you are likely to find her spending her spare time in the water as a swimmer, diver and surf life saver.

Inka has been keen on sustainability from a very young age and wishes to pursue a career that champions the environment. She started studying marine science and geography in 2020 and is excited to share her growing knowledge with others. Inka is all about action and isn’t afraid to ask tough questions to get others thinking about sustainability. She loves the ocean, endurance running and DOGS.

Fascinated by people and their behaviour, Kayla has a PGDip in psychology and has a passion for research and learning. She thrives off of meaningful work and aspires to leave a positive and lasting impact on the world and those around her.



Prince loves long walks along the beach and sniffing anything and everything. He’s no good at retrieving balls but prefers to steal other dogs’ balls and sticks. Prince thinks he’s a small dog; he likes cuddles and sitting on laps. More likely to lick you to death than scare you. Will work for treats.

A former Audit Partner, Group Chairman, and now Consultant of RSM, Craig has over 30 years’ business experience and is well known for translating the technical into practical.

Entrepreneur, fitness guru and technology fanatic. Alex proved his passion early on, completing a gruelling 2,300 km coastal run in our honour. Having developed his own online coaching business, Moxiee, he provides solid business development, strategy and technical expertise.

Abbie Reynolds

Abbie lives in Tāmaki Makaurau and comes from a corporate sustainability and philanthropy background. In 2019 she won a Women of Influence award for her work at the Sustainable Business Council and for establishing the Climate Leaders Coalition. Committed to the careful stewardship of our moana and taiao, Abbie is an ocean swimmer who attends whale strandings from time to time as a marine mammal medic.

Stu Potter

Stu lives in Tairāwhiti and has extensive experience of human and business development. He’s a devoted husband and father with a strong connection to his Māori whakapapa and is into every kind of water sport. Stu has a strong commitment to preserving the environment for future generations.

As a Sustainability Advisor with a background in Environmental Management, she brings an understanding of the key challenges facing our environment and shares our inspiration for change.
